Movie Doremon: Nobita's Earth Symphony earned $12.6 million in China in its first week of release

Entertainment news website Variety reported on Sunday that the 2024 Doremon movie Eiga Doremon: Nobita no Chikyū Symphony (Doraemon the Movie: Nobita's Earth Symphony) opened at No. 1 at the Chinese box office and grossed 89, 5 million RMB (12.6 million USD).
The film opened at No. 1 in Japan on March 1. The film sold 538,000 tickets for 655,555,580 yen (about $4.37 million) in its first week of release. The film has earned a total of 4,133,386,930 yen (about US$26.66 million) in Japan as of May 8.
The new film has a music theme, as Doraemon and his friends go on adventures to meet new friends, connect with people through music and save the world from crisis.
Kazuaki Imai (Doraemon the Movie: Nobita's Treasure Island, Doremon the Movie: Nobita's New Dinosaur) directed the film. Teruko Utsumi, screenwriter of the television anime Doremon, wrote the script for the film. The current cast of the anime television series reprized their roles for the film.
Doraemon the Movie 2023: Nobita's Sky Utopia, the 42nd anime film in the franchise, opened in Japan in March 2023. The film ranked No. 1 on the opening weekend list and sold 542,000 tickets with revenue of 663 million yen (about 4.87 million USD) in the first three days.
