Shochiku began streaming the first four minutes of Akane Torikai's live-action adaptation of Akane Torikai's manga Pious Lie (Sensei no Hiroi Uso) on Thursday. The clip begins with Misuzu's thoughts about the inequality between men and women, interrupted by her friend Minako and Minako's fiancé Masami coming to the izakaya to drink with her. After telling Misuzu that she should make an effort to look better to attract men, Minako tells Misuzu that she is about to marry Masami, and Misuzu congratulates the new couple. The scene changes as Misuzu continues her previous monologue as the new school day begins.

Nao Honda (My Broken Mariko, Haruka no Sue) plays high school teacher Misuzu Hara.
HiHi Jets member Sōya Igari plays Yuki Niizuma, a student in Misuzu Hara's class. Ayaka Miyoshi plays Minako Fuchino, Misuzu's best friend and complete opposite. Shunsuke Kazama will play Masami Hayato, Minako's fiancé.
Other cast members include Momoko Tanabe, Sora Inoue, Yuka Itaya, Bengal, Ryōko Kobayashi, Reiko Mori and Motohiro Yoshida.
Kodansha USA published the series in English and describes the story:
Misuzu Hara is a quiet, reserved 24-year-old high school teacher whose world is turned upside down after her friend's fiancé rapes her. Her efforts to connect with one of her students, who is a victim of sexual trauma, leads to an unlikely romance, and the consequences of these events affect her. affect the people around them in often unpredictable ways.
Koichirô Miki (Yowamushi Pedal) will direct the film with a script by Naoko Adachi. Sensei's Pious Lie was the first work that Miki personally wanted to adapt and he developed the project for seven years.
In addition, the film will be shown in a new “three-screen” format in two theaters in Tokyo and Kumamoto. Ultra-wide format can run different shots on each screen, such as additional scenes that are not part of the main story.
Torikai launched the manga in Kodansha's Morning two magazine in 2013. Kodansha published the eighth and final compiled book volume in October 2017. Kodansha USA published the fourth and final compiled book volume. finally in English in October 2022.
