If Demon Slayer’s superb animation quality is 10/10, the Genshin Impact anime adaptation is said to be 11/10.
According to the self-proclaimed Anime News Account @/oecuf0, who regularly tweets leaks related to the anime industry, the anime adaptation of Genshin Impact is said to contain higher quality animation than Demon Slayer. The account reinforces the statement with the answer: “Staff are strong.” ufotable directed both films. Since announcing the anime adaptation in 2022, HoYoverse has not revealed any other details about the project, including staff details.
HoYoverse announces anime adaptation in 2022
HoYoverse, the game developer behind Genshin Impact, announced an anime adaptation of the hit RPG in September 2022, partnering with ufotable to “launch the long-term project”. At the time of the announcement, HoYoverse had also rolled out a three-and-a-half minute concept trailer that took fans into the breathtaking fantasy world of Teyvat. Fans received the announcement with high expectations, with one fan writing, “Ufotable sets new standards for animation every time they create something. This is going to be huge!”
Founded in October 2000 by a former employee of Telecom Animation Film, ufotable produced its first anime series called Weiß Kreuz Glühen in 2002. The studio co-produced its first original work, Futakoi Alternative, in 2005, in collaboration with the Feel and Flag studios. ufotable also directed the Fate/Zero light novel adaptation. In 2015, the studio produced the first anime adaptation of a video game based on God Eater. The animation studio received critical acclaim for the quality of its animation in 2019 when it directed production of Demon Slayer. Their work on Demon Slayer has earned them numerous awards at the Crunchyroll Anime Awards and the Newtype Anime Awards.
About Genshin Impact
Developed using the Unity Engine, Genshin Impact debuted in June 2019 at E3 2019. Using an anime-style aesthetic and featuring gacha game mechanics, the game takes place in Teyvat and follows a detective. Multidimensional adventurer named The Traveler, who goes on a journey to find their missing twin brother with their guide Paimon. While traveling, the Traveler and Paimon meet various individuals and befriend them along the way. Genshin Impact won Game of the Year at the 2020 TapTap Game Awards and Best Mobile Game at the 2021 Game Awards.
No other details have been revealed about the anime adaptation. Genshin Impact is available to play on Android, iOS, PS4/5 and PC. The game will release on Nintendo Switch at a later date.
