Review of Yakuza Fiancé Episode 6: Today's episode of Yakuza Fiancé or Raise wa Tanin ga Ii (来世は他人がいい) hints at a grand conspiracy. Let's see how this episode plays out.
Yakuza Fiancé episode 5 summary
The episode begins with Yoshino finally recovering from her fever. She immediately noticed how well Kirishima took care of her, even staying up all night to ensure her health. When she questions why he is so protective of her, he explains that he needs to keep her close in case any of his enemies come after her. Now that he has a crush on Yoshino, he fears that targeting her will be the easiest way for his opponents to get revenge on him.
From their exchange, it was clear how Kirishima's attachment to Yoshino had grown stronger. He couldn't bear the thought of her being vulnerable without him by her side. However, their dynamic is about to change with the arrival of an important guest in Tokyo. Given that Renji, Yoshino's grandfather, had many lovers, he also had a half-niece from these relationships. This half-niece is Tsubaki, lives in Kyoto and has a close relationship with Yoshino.
On the surface, Tsubaki and Kirishima seem to get along very well. They both recognize each other's cunning nature and respect the strength they see in each other. Kirishima knows how much Yoshino trusts Tsubaki, while Tsubaki understands Kirishima's deep feelings for Yoshino. However, Tsubaki warns Kirishima that if he dares to hurt Yoshino, she will not hesitate to remove him from her cousin's life.
Yakuza Fiancé Episode 6 Review
Today's episode shows how complex Kirishima's personality is. At the beginning, we see Tsubaki and Yoshino discussing Kirishima and his obsession with Yoshino. When asked if Yoshino believes his declaration of love, she clearly states that he is just obsessed with her, that's all. But this conversation makes her realize how little she knows about her fiance and maybe she should try to understand him better.
On the other hand, Kirishima was planning something completely different. He decides to contact his ex, Nao, who happens to be a quite successful broadcaster and a famous figure in the entertainment industry. Not only that, she is also dating Ozu, a guy with considerable wealth. But even with so many achievements, Nao still seems friendly enough to have good relationships with everyone. However, that is just her facade, as she is quite a cunning and devious woman.
Therefore, it was only natural that when someone like Kirishima, with whom she had an unforgettable love in the past, began to take an active interest in her, she jumped at the opportunity. Despite declaring his undying love for Yoshino, Kirishima clearly doesn't seem too concerned with loyalty. However, can we really blame him for being unfaithful when he and Yoshino don't really love each other and his feelings remain unrequited?
Another development in this episode is that Yoshino and Kirishima are now in love. Osaka. This is Kirishima's first time meeting Soumei's group and he's basically on enemy territory. How this meeting will go and whether Yoshino will be able to find out his true intentions is something we will have to see later.
Verdict
This episode turned out to be quite good and I liked that it didn't feel like a typical romance anime at all. You never really know what the characters are thinking and whether they truly love each other. Is Kirishima really a scumbag who can't control his impulses or is there something else to do?
