Cast details and character design images have been released for the Tohai – Ura Rate Mahjong Tohai Roku anime adaptation.
The announced cast is Kohsuke Tanabe as Kei, Ai Fairouz as Amina and Shunsuke Takeuchi as Doujima.
Tohai manga by Koji Shinasaka was serialized in Akita Shoten's Young Champion magazine from 2006 to 2011 and collected into 12 tankoubon volumes. Then there's Tohai: Hitobashira-hen, Tohai: Minagoroshi-hen and the ongoing Tohai: Cold Girl, which begins in 2021 and features Amina as the main character. The series also includes spin-off works.
The anime series that will premiere this year is described as:
Money, women, organs. Kei, a male high school student, frequents an underground mahjong shop
full of desires, earning him the nickname ICE in the underworld thanks to his cold strategy
and his stylish playing style. There are rumors that he raises a girl at home.
A live-action film adaptation of Tohai was released in 2023.
