Fairy Tail: 100 Year Quest 19
フェアリーテイル 100年クエスト
Summary/SPOILER Summary:
Many of the girls of Fairy Tail decided to celebrate Aldoron's defeat by bathing in an outdoor multi-person bathtub, shaped like Aldoron. Brandish decided to make the girls small so they could enjoy the experience more. However, Brandish disappears, leaving the little girls scrambling to find her. Naruto and Happy find little Lucy. Together, they find Brandish at a sweet shop, where she restores all the girls to their normal size.
Meanwhile, the White Mage awakens in a panic before a place she calls Elentear. She wakes Touka up about it, then uses Touka's Aqua Aera magic to teleport away. The members of Team Naruto are also teleported to a mysterious land where they cannot use magic. They soon find themselves in Edolas when Edo-Lucy appears, looking for her daughter, Nasha.
After reuniting with Edo-Fairy Tail, Team Naruto heads to the Imperial City to meet with Prince Mystogan. At the palace, the group welcomes Prince Mystogan but are attacked by Edo-Erza in a maid outfit for not being more respectful. As Mystogan gently admonished her, Edo-Erza begged to be spanked. The group discussed how Team Naruto could be teleported to Edolas. Mystogan believes in a world called Elentear, where the Moon Dragon god Selene has the ability to open portals and travel through space.
Thoughts/Review:
Rub, Fairy Tail: 100 Year Quest 19 mainly as filler and an excuse to have characters from Edolas make cameos. Surprisingly, all of this is taken from the source manga.
Return to Edolas
I only vaguely remember Edolas from OG Fairy Tail comic. However, what I remember most is the alternate universe version of the Fairy Tail members that lived there. Oh yeah, and the Super Smart Cats lived here. Also, I don't remember what the conflict was or anything like that. However, as Mashima-sensei is wont to do, Fairy Tail: 100 Years Quest 19 became an excuse for more cameos, this time from Edolas.
However, since I don't remember much about this Edolas story, some plot-related elements remain a mystery to me. I had to look up what Anima was. 😅 Obviously, die-hard fans of Fairy Tail will remember, but for new fans, or like me, casual fans, something more needs to be done to explain what happened. Alas, that didn't happen.
However, Mashima-sensei still gets to have his cake and eat it too. He brings us a cameo reunion with everyone in Edolas, complete with humorous twists. He then ties it into the ongoing story with a Selene reference. It is quite convenient for the people of Edolas to know this.
Final thoughts and conclusions
I need to go to bed for an early morning doctor's appointment, so let me summarize my thoughts on Fairy Tail: 100 Year Quest 19.
Nasha is a girl. However, the subtitles refer to her as if he were a guy. I checked the official manga translation and the fandom, and both confirm this. So either the translator/converter made a huge mistake or just assumed Nasha was a boy for some reason. The first story of the episode made me roll my eyes. I entered the manga, there was a chapter to relax. And that should be adjusted. However, stories about girls becoming small depressed me. It's quite convenient that the White Mage's magic can only teleport Naruto's team. I wonder how Naruto's team got separated from Fairy Tail again. I was hoping Juvia would be able to participate in the mission, but obviously that wasn't going to happen. Speaking of White Mage, I see Mashima-sensei is currently trying to redeem her. So she will do all sorts of evil things to save Elentear. But now that she has failed, will she repent and become an ally? Well, that's how Mashima-sensei usually does these things. Whatever.
Final, Fairy Tail: 100 Year Quest 19 mostly a filler episode, filled with Edolas cameos, a possible redemption arc for the White Mage, and connections to the actual plot. All that's missing is for Diabolos to somehow appear.
