Summary
Josuke’s victory over Karaiya in Crazy Diamond’s Demonic Heartbreak is one of the most absurd and violent defeats in the Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure series. Karaiya was lifted into the air like a hot air balloon due to the heat from the welding torch, while being burned by the torch’s flames the entire time. This victory shows the potential brutal consequences for anyone who tries to harm Josuke or his family, as seen in his previous victories against major criminals.
The Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure The series has seen some absolutely brutal takedowns of opponents in the long run, including Josuke himself. But when it comes to the most unforgettable, one of Josuke’s victories is simultaneously one of the silliest and also one of the most violent to date.
The spin-off series Crazy Diamond’s Demonic Heartbreak sees Josuke confront the mastermind behind the gun-wielding Petsounds parrot, Karaiya. After unloading a barrage of “ORA” on him, Karaiya became entangled in the torch’s tube, causing him to fall off a building onto a tarp. But it doesn’t stop there.
The tarp quickly opened like a parachute, slowing his landing. But the heat from the activated welding torch also caused the tarpaulin-covered villain to float up like a hot air balloon. So Karaiya was kept aloft indefinitely, unable to free himself without falling, and was burned by the torch the entire time he was in the air – right in the face.
Josuke vs Karaiya is the dumbest win
Josuke has had some pretty brutal victories before, but never a brutal “burn in the face.” Since Crazy Diamond’s Demonic Heartbreak is set before season 4, that means the takedown of Karaiya, a corrupt police officer, is probably one of the first times he’s been taken down. Maybe that’s not surprising, because his first victory in Diamond is Unbreakable involves turning a major Stand-wielding criminal, Angelo, into a stone for the rest of the series . Angelo killed Josuke’s grandfather and tried to attack Josuke’s mother, while Karaiya here almost killed Josuke himself, so it seems like attacking Josuke or his family actually risks a punishment some heaviness.
In the larger Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure series, the most devastating victory may be Joseph’s, after launching Kars into space and leaving him floating in the endless void forever. While he may not be that serious, it’s fitting that Karaiya would be defeated in a similar manner, since Karaiya also thinks himself better than humans (and hopes to become one of the vampires that Kars created).
While this Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure spin-off may have humiliated its main villain, but Crazy Diamond’s Demonic Heartbreak is no one-note adventure. After witnessing what Josuke did to his first opponent, every villain will try to stay away from Josuke and his family.
