Themed variety show hosts One Piece had the opportunity to tour the Jump editorial staff a few weeks ago. During this visit, they ran into the editor of the manga series Jujutsu Kaisen Junya Fukuda and talked to him about various things, including the ending of the manga.
The original showrunners were shocked when they saw the rough draft of the chapter JJK that Fukuda is editing and their reactions suggest that the manga will have some surprises in store for fans in the coming weeks.
As Fukuda and the hosts chatted further, It is known that author Gege Akutami has decided how to end the Jujutsu Kaisen manga. According to Fukuda, Akutami accidentally explained everything to him last in a meeting.
“He told me how he wanted everything to go smoothly. and he already had a plan,” Fukuda told the hosts.
While Fukuda said that he enjoyed “spoilers” of the manga’s plot, he also looked forward to seeing how Akutami ultimately carried out the story after talking about it. For the editor, this is the interesting part.
Fukuda’s comments only reaffirm what Akutami previously revealed in the fanbook Jujutsu Kaisenin which he said that he had the endings planned out and that he just needed to figure out how to get to these endings.
For example, he revealed that he had decided Megumi’s fate, however Yuji’s fate was still unclear at the time.
Above all, in an interview with Jump Festa (2019), Akutami declared that there are two ways the story can progress. Either only one character will die out of the four main characters (Gojo, Yuji, Megumi and Nobara) or only one of them will survive.
It remains to be seen whether Akutami still sticks to these original plans he laid out.
The author revealed at Jump Festa 2024 that this may be the last Jump Festa JJK participation, suggesting that the manga will most likely successfully reach its conclusion by the end of 2024.
