a>In an interview that entertainment news source The Hollywood Reporter posted on Tuesday, John Wick franchise co-creator and director Chad Stahelski revealed that the series' planned anime will be a series prequel film. According to The Hollywood Reporter, it will show”at least some””mission impossible” that allows the main character to retire before the story of the first live-action film.
Stahelski directed all four live-action John Wick films from 2014 to 2023. He also produced the spinoff From the World of John Wick: Ballerina next year, although he did not direct participated in the spinoff series The Continental: From the World of John Wick last year. He is designing action scenes for Lazarus, Shinichiro Watanabe and MAPPA's sci-fi action anime for Adult Swim. Before directing films, Stahelski worked as a stuntman on the live-action film Fist of the North Star and supervising stunt coordinator on the live-action film Speed Racer.
Variety reported in 2020 that Derek Kolstad, writer of the first three John Wick films, was writing and producing “animated series” Splinter Cell for Netflix and Ubisoft. Deadline reports that he is also developing a live-action film based on Kouta Hirano's Hellsing manga with Amazon Studios, and he has written the script for a live-action film about Sega's Streets of Rage game. John Wick star Keanu Reeves wrote the BRZRKR comic book series, which Production IG is adapting into an animated series for Netflix.
