The film takes place against the backdrop of a prestigious international sporting event, the World Games (WSG), held every four years in Tokyo.
Media rumors surround the Hyper Linear train, capable of reaching speeds of 1,000 km/h, preparing to debut on the opening day of WSG. However, a series of mysterious incidents occurred, involving the kidnapping and immediate release of top executives of WSG’s sponsoring companies. Similar incidents happened at the opening ceremony of WSG in the US 15 years ago.
Conan, upon learning that Alan McKenzie, former FBI director and current head of the WSG committee, will participate in the bullet train’s first run, teams up with Shuichi Akai to intervene.
At the same time, Akai’s sister Masumi Sera and his mother Mary are also tracking the same case when they board the ship. Adding to the intrigue, Akai’s younger brother and professional Shogi player Shukichi Haneda accidentally finds himself in Nagoya, the train’s starting point!
