Rikachi’s award-winning shoujo manga Nina the Starry Bride will be adapted into a television anime. Teaser images and announcement videos were also released along with the main cast: Minami Tanaka as Nina, Yuichiro Umehara as Azure and Kouki Uchiyama as Sett. The release date, studio, and staff have yet to be revealed.
The manga began serialization on Kodansha’s Be Love in October 2019 and currently has 11 volumes in circulation. It won the Best Shojo Manga category at the 46th Annual Kodansha Manga Awards.
Kodansha US is publishing the series in English and describes the plot as follows: Nina has a rough start in life, being orphaned and stealing to survive, only to be kidnapped because of her unusual lapis lazuli eyes. me. But to her surprise, her captor, Prince Azure, has decreed that she will live the life of a princess… specifically, the life of the recently deceased priestess-princess, Alisha, who has eyes like hers. Despite her changing fortunes, Nina won’t give up her old life without a fight. Azure may be the last person to match her wits, but how much can she trust him?
