The Sword of the Demon Hunter: Kijin Gentosho anime was due to premiere in Japan on June 27 with a one-hour special that has been delayed to 2025.
Additionally, Sword of the Demon Hunter will now air as a consecutive two-pitch show instead.
The anime is an adaptation of the Futaba Bunsho fantasy novel series from 2019 to 2023 written by Moto Nakanishi and illustrated by Tamaki, starting from feudal Japan and moving into more modern times. Seven Seas Entertainment describes the series as follows:
For many generations, a shrine has existed in the mountain village of Kadono, and in each generation, that shrine has had an Itsukihime—the shrine maiden—and the maiden who has had her guardian. During the Edo period, a young man named Jinta protected the town and Itsukihime. When he confronts a strange demon in the nearby forest, it tells him that in the distant future, the Demon God will threaten everyone, everywhere, and it proclaims the rise to power of The Demon God originates from this very time and place, in the village of Kadono. So begins the centuries-long journey of a possessed man, hunting through time to seek justice for what he has lost and find a reason to keep fighting.
There has been a manga adaptation of Yu Satomi's Demon Slayer Sword as well as a stage play. Sword of the Demon Hunter was originally a web novel published on Arcadia and later on Shousetsuka ni Narou.
