Warning! Contains spoilers for Jujutsu Kaisen Chapter 219!While tribe was scary enough to possess Megumi’s body, Jujutsu Kaisen just reminding fans that his original form is even scarier. For most of the story’s length so far, mangaka Gege Akutami has portrayed Sukuna in someone else’s body because he lost his original body a long time ago. But when fans were shown flashbacks to the King of Curses, readers were able to see Sukuna’s original form in all of its original glory.
Chapter 219 features one of these flashbacks, delving into the story of one of Sukuna’s old allies, Yorozu. In it, Sukuna is shown in his terrifying original glory, a large man with four arms and a cursed half-human and half-distorted face. He doesn’t really do much in this chapter, just sitting on a platform as Yorozu tries to cuddle him, but his utter indifference to the world actually makes him all the more intimidating. However, this is much more interesting than previous appearances of this form.
Jujutsu Kaisen finally gives fans more pictures of Sukuna’s past
While this isn’t the first time Sukuna’s true form has been revealed, it’s the first time fans have seen him interact with others in this form. The original form is shown back in Chapter 3 when Gojo first explains to Yuji who the King of Curses is. It was later shown on the cover of a chapter in the Shibuya Incident just before Sukuna fought the extremely powerful Mahoraga of the Jujutsu Kaisen. But neither of these appearances really shows that Sukuna is actually doing anything in his original body other than appearing intimidating. This appearance doesn’t really change this trend, but it does give more context to glimpses of the original Sukuna.
From his behavior in this chapter, Sukuna clearly considers himself to be far superior to every character around him. Even when he didn’t move or change his expression, his utter contempt was palpable. Given his extremely intimidating initial form, it’s hard to blame him for this attitude. In fact, the utter horror of this form isn’t even fully demonstrated here, as one of his four eyes is closed and his belly’s mouth disappears into the contours of his abdominal muscles. But even with these terrifying traits hidden and without Sukuna’s powerful Cursed Energy Technique in Jujutsu Kaisen, the King of Curses is clearly still a major force to be reckoned with.
Jujutsu Kaisen needs to show more than Sukuna’s original body
It is unclear whether Sukuna will ever regain his original body today or even if he wants to. After all, Megumi’s body allows Sukuna to access Jujutsu Kaisen’s Ten Shadows Technique, which makes him even more of a threat. But with other reincarnated witches like Kashimo apparently also having a deep relationship with Sukuna in the past, the film is sure to bring back Sukuna’s past body. Hopefully in the next appearance, Jujutsu Kaisen will show how scary it really is tribeIts original form is possible by showing it in action.
