I’m currently reading the latest volume of Spy x Family and it’s amazing. It’s a flashback to Loid’s childhood. I’m not sure we’ll get that far this season but I still can’t wait to see it animated. If I had to guess, I’d say I was about to cry! I was a crybaby, kind of like Loid!
But we’re not here to talk about potential future episodes of Spy x Family. Especially when the current episode is so good. The previous episode briefly mentioned an assassin organization called the Garden and of course we know an assassin! I’m sure you all saw it coming. Personally, I love having a literal garden. It was fascinating.
Obviously I’m glad we know more about Yor but it was a bit easy, wasn’t it? She’s an assassin but one of those good assassins who only kills bad guys. Don’t get me wrong, I understand that this cute children’s show about a family being made up won’t make me too uncomfortable but there’s something interesting about the moral dilemmas it poses. propose. With all those gray characters with violent tendencies. My catch is that Yor is so naive that the Head Gardener just convinced her that they were heroes of justice or something.
After all, if you think about it, the task at hand seems legitimate. She was protecting someone, a mother and a newborn no less. But this is also a high-ranking wife and you have to realize that her past is not entirely clean…
I’m off topic. It was an interesting episode, wasn’t it? Lots of great setups and all these potential killers combined make for some fun! It’s a more introspective episode for Yor as she seriously considers giving up her profession as an assassin. In all seriousness, it’s a dangerous job that she doesn’t need to do anymore. It’s also the only life she’s ever truly known. Her new family is gradually becoming more important to her but it is also fake. And her old family, Yuuri, doesn’t need her like before. So what’s a beautiful killing machine for?
As some of you may know, Yor is my favorite character, which is what makes this arc so great for me. She doesn’t just get a chance to shine and kick some ass. We finally got a chance to sit down and get her thoughts a little. Let’s see what a girl like Yor thinks about herself and about life.
And then you get the weird side story about Anya and Loid trying to go on vacation. While Anya is going on one of her spy adventures in that childish way, Loid is trying to relax and have fun. There are probably only two things he’s not proficient at all. It makes for a delightfully silly twist on this surprisingly serious arc and honestly, I can’t wait for more!
