The long-awaited Sonic the Hedgehog 3 movie is finally ready to hit the big screen. Telling the story of Shadow, the film will see Sonic, Knuckles and Tails try to defeat their mysterious new enemy and save the planet.
Sonic the Hedgehog 3 sees the return of Ben Schwartz, Idris Elba and Colleen O'Shaughnessey as the main trio. Jim Carrey is also back, this time in a dual role as Dr. Ivo Robotnik and Gerald Robotnik. Most excitingly, Keanu Reeves has joined the cast as Shadow.
But Reeves isn't the only iconic voice behind the villain. René García, who voiced Vegeta in Dragon Ball Z and Dragon Ball Super in the Latin American Spanish dub, has also been cast as the Spanish voice actor for Shadow.
This creates a fascinating connection between the two legendary franchises as well as the characters. Although we know Vegeta as part of the Z-Warriors, he started his adventures on Earth as a villain. Over time, the Saiyan prince has solidified his role as a good guy, but there is still enough “darkness” within him.
García isn't the only Dragon Ball character making the jump into the Sonic universe. Goku's Spanish voice actor Mario Castañeda will also be reprising his role as Jim Carrey's Dr. Ivo Robotnik, aka Eggman, in the upcoming film.
The popular live-action series Sonic the Hedgehog is about to return with part 3 called Sonic the Hedgehog 3 (original title: Sonic the Hedgehog 3), promising to continue to be an action blockbuster worth looking forward to at the end of 2024.
In Sonic the Hedgehog 3, Sonic will have to face a new enemy – Shadow. Shadow is a character with a past quite similar to Sonic, even Shadow's appearance has many similarities with the blue hedgehog, except for the black fur and red stripes. Besides, while Sonic has found family and friends, Shadow only has loneliness and loss to accompany him.
The trio Sonic, Tails and Knuckles fought Shadow together and realized the enemy's superior ability. Not only did he have the same extreme speed as Sonic, with special skates, Shadow could fly in his normal state.
In the original, Shadow is considered a typical anti-hero (a character who is neither good nor bad) with coldness and cruelty. This will definitely be a character that causes a lot of trouble for Sonic.
Knowing that he could not fight Shadow alone, Sonic and his two friends had to seek help from their “mortal enemy” – Dr. Robotnik. After the events of part 2, Dr. Robotnik (played by Jim Carrey) became sad, reclusive and gained weight. However, an unexpected encounter with Sonic's group helped Robotnik regain his spirit to return, of course on the condition that Sonic had to give him a porcupine quill.
