One Piece’s voice actors Roronoa Zoro and Vinsmoke Sanji have each mimicked their characters with some amusing brawls.
A recent tweet from Twitter user Sandman discussed the story of Hiroaki Hirata (Sanji) teasing Kazuya Nakai (Zoro) about their character bonuses. The post confirmed that Hirata had originally applied to play the role of Zoro before Sanji but was unsuccessful. In contrast, Nakai is said to have been agreed without a doubt by the crew to play the role of Zoro. This caused some mild tension and inspired Hirata to ask Nakai in 2018, “So, how much is your bonus, Zoro?”
Sanji and Zoro .’s friendly confrontation
Sanji and Zoro’s characters are often portrayed as overly competitive, as they struggle to coexist without fighting. Hirata’s uneven rivalry with Nakai for the role of Zoro reflects the competitive nature of the characters. The mention of the bounty also plays an important role, as the larger the bounty in One Piece, the more valuable the pirate is considered to be. Zoro is very proud that his bounty is higher than Sanji’s, at least until the “Whole Island Cake” part, where Sanji finally overtakes him.
Hirata’s role of Sanji is a synonym of the franchise, as is Nakai’s role as Zoro. The pair are an integral part of the Straw Hat Pirates, serving as two of the most important members of the supporting cast. Sanji works as the group’s chef and is the fifth member to join the group in the “East Blue” story. On the other hand, Zoro is the ship’s swordsman and is generally recognized as Monkey D. Luffy’s right-hand man. The characters recently got their first look at Netflix’s upcoming live-action series thanks to a newly released One Piece trailer.
One Piece was written by the legendary Eiichiro Oda, an author so dedicated that he often worked on the series despite his health. Oda recently announced that the manga will be on a four-week hiatus as he prepares for eye surgery. However, this has led to a lot of hope that the series will get better in the long run.
Toei Animations’ One Piece anime is available to watch on Crunchyroll. Additionally, the manga is available to read on the VIZ Media website with a Shonen Jump subscription.
