Following the unique Japanese holidays of Confession Day and Goku Day, May 10 in Japan is unofficially recognized as Maid Day. The special occasion to honor those who wear pleated maid uniforms is based on a play on words derived from the Japanese pronunciation of dates, “mei-do.”
Japanese anime, manga, light novels, and video games all feature maids with a variety of roles and characteristics. Naturally, several anime series, creators, and entertainers have paid tribute to Maid Day by releasing special visuals.
