The series will premiere exclusively on Netflix on August 31.
The film’s soundtrack, which has the main theme “POWER of Rich Fame” by songwriters, composers and music producers Sonya Belousova and Giona Ostinelli (The Witcher), will be released on the same day.
Original creator Oda, who is also serving as an executive producer, announced in May that the series wouldn’t launch until he was “satisfied”. He added that “all related entities are working in sync.” The series will have eight episodes, instead of 10 as originally reported.
The live-action cast includes:
The Japanese voice actors for Luffy, Zoro, Nami, Usopp, and Sanji from the One Piece television anime will reprise their roles in the Japanese dub. Additionally, Iñaki Godoy and Taz Skylar will voice Luffy and Sanji in Spanish, respectively.
Tomorrow Studios, a partnership between producer Marty Adelstein (Jailbreak, Teen Wolf) and ITV Studios, is producing the live show-action series. Matt Owens (Luke Cage, Agents of SHIELD) is the show’s writer. Steven Maeda and Becky Clements are executive producers.
Adelstein stated in a video announcement shown at Jump Festa in 2017 that the live-action Hollywood television series adaptation of the manga will begin with East Blue and will “expand from there.” Adelstein also stated that The series promises to create the “real One Piece” after he discussed the project directly with Oda.
