Issue 45 of this year’s Kodansha Weekly Young Magazine has revealed some important news regarding Nobuyuki Fukumoto’s Kaiji manga.
It was revealed that Kaiji will be on a temporary hiatus until the magazine’s 49th issue, which is expected to hit shelves in November.

This hiatus follows a previous break that began in June and was originally scheduled to end in September, as Fukumoto needed time for research.
For English-speaking fans, Denpa is the publisher responsible for bringing Kaiji to the English-speaking world, while Manga Planet handles the digital release.
Denpa offers a description of this manga: Kaiji Itou, a notorious useless man, finds his aimless life turned upside down when the yakuza pay him an unwanted visit. Struggling under the burden of debt and resentment, Kaiji is forced to participate in a high-stakes gambling tournament to survive.
As the stakes get higher and the rules become increasingly bizarre, Kaiji must ultimately gain control of his own destiny.
Nobuyuki Fukumoto started this seinen manga series in Kodansha’s Weekly Young Magazine back in 1996, and as of now, the manga has reached its 88th compiled volume, which was released recently.
In addition to the manga, the Kaiji franchise has been adapted into two anime television series, three live-action Japanese films, one live-action Chinese film, and even a reality game show.

Furthermore, the anime Mr. Tonegawa, a spin-off of Kaiji, debuted in July 2018. Sentai, a licensing company, acquired the series and began streaming on HIDIVE in August of the same year.
