Legendary Horror Mangaka This is Junji will officially participate in the voiceover for the first time in the upcoming anime adaptation of Uzumaki. Junji Ito’s work has become famous over the past few decades for its scary stories and disturbing drawings. In fact, they are so popular that there have been many attempts to put them on television. As of now, there have been two officially released anime adaptations titled Junji Ito Collection and Junji Ito Maniac with a recently announced live-action film adaptation of his Bloodsucking Darkness story . However, the most anticipated translation of Ito’s work is undoubtedly Adult Swim’s Uzumaki. This anime has been in the works for a long time and it looks like it has one more surprise as Ito himself is expected to play the cameo.
According to Comic Book Resources, the official Twitter page for the Uzumaki anime featured a video with Ito himself in the audio booth. He gave clear instructions on how to prepare to deliver his lines before speaking into the microphone for a small cameo. It was a session that went very quickly, even surprising director Hiroshi Nagahama when he incredulously declared, “Is that for him?” However, the fact that the legendary creator Uzumaki will appear in the anime is extremely interesting and something that fans should pay attention to when it is released.
Junji Ito explains why he never spoke up before
What’s interesting about this short video is Ito’s discussion of why he’s never voiced before. Although he appeared in Hideo Kojima’s Death Stranding video game, this cameo in Uzumaki was his first voice acting. When Nagahama asked if he had voiced a character before, Ito replied that his “poor pronunciation” made it difficult for him to be an actor. However, he is proud of the characters he plays because they match his pronunciation difficulty perfectly. It’s not yet known who Ito will play, but knowing that his role will likely be at a standstill should help fans pick him out.
Now that Ito has some acting experience, that could open the door for him to guest-star in other of his upcoming adaptations. While he may not win an Academy Award anytime soon, seeing him appear to resemble Stephen King in adaptations of his works could make for an easter egg. interesting for eagle eye fans. Also, with Bloodsucking Darkness on the way, he could step in front of the camera for the first time to surprise fans of his work on the big screen.
It is currently unknown when Junji Ito’s first voice acting will finally arrive. As of 2022, Uzumaki has been delayed indefinitely while the artists work to ensure that the manga’s story is fully executed prior to its release. However, it will be well worth the wait when it arrives. It is clear that a lot of attention has been put into making this adaptation of Toonami because of the influence of the story since it was first published in 1998. See This is Junji stamp of approval for Uzumaki By making his voiceover debut is a perfect way to put a proper bow on this adaptation whenever it releases.
