Many years ago, there was a person who saved the town of Numazu from complete destruction by creating echoes and turning them into a song, thus the legend was born.
And now, the legend will be revived as Yohane will try to save Numazu using the power of her own voice, as well as the Magic Rod that contains her resonance.
Of course, Yohane is not alone as she is joined by eight precious companions and her pet wolf Laelaps, who can no longer speak.
Speaking of Laelaps, Yohane’s pet wolf will act as her emotional support as the rest of the girls will join her in making noise.
And it’s an idol song because it’s time for Aqours to perform “La la Yuuki no Uta” and save Numazu!
And really, this is Aqours at their peak, where I’m happy to see all 9 girls performing together even if this is Love Live! Sunlight!! side story.
Unfortunately for Yohane and the rest, the evil scourge will not allow them to save their town as it releases a powerful energy wave that knocks them out.
While Chika and the rest were fine, Yohane was unconscious. Actually, I’m afraid she won’t wake up again!
However, it seems that Yohane has a chance to wake up when he receives a white feather. I bet it comes from her real friends.
Also, this is Laelaps, where Yohane’s pet wolf tells her to get back on her feet because she still has some unfinished business. After all, she wants to become a famous female singer in the future!
And so Yohane woke up like a phoenix rising from the ashes. So while she and her companions save Numazu through music, there are more people involved…
As you can see, they are singing “La la Yuuki no Uta” in unison. Wouldn’t it be great to see them sing an Aqours song in this side story?
But thanks to their efforts, the resonance pushed the disaster away from Numazu as their town was finally saved.
It was surprising that the legend finally realized thanks to Yohane and her friends. I’m sure the entire town will retell this legend for years to come.
And now comes the epilogue, where everyone returns to their normal lives. While Mari and Riko decide to stay on the mainland, a certain female singer goes missing while her mother is searching for Yohane.
In fact, Yohane’s mother was not worried about her daughter’s disappearance. Maybe Yohane went to Tokai and auditioned.
Talking about the audition, the judges are looking forward to Yohane as she has improved quite a lot compared to the previous audition.
However, one of the judges told them that Yohane declined the invitation. Okay, is she afraid Yohane will fail again?
Well, she told the judges that Yohane found her calling when she decided to stay in Numazu and become a singer loved by everyone.
It was a surprise when Yohane arrived, where she didn’t care about gaining fame anymore. It seemed that her long stay in her hometown had changed her life forever.
And not only that, but it’s all thanks to her friends Yohane found along the way. In any case, it looks like it’s time to form an idol group in Numazu in this spin-off, where it will take on the legendary name Aqours.
But that’s the conclusion of Genjitsu no Yohane: Sunshine in the Mirror, which is a great spin-off of Love Live! Sunshine as Sunrise did a great job creating a fantasy anime based on Aqours. While the cast remains as likable as before, I was surprised that Laelaps’ role in the story played such an important role in Yohane’s growth. Of course, I was quite disappointed that Saint Snow did not appear and only appeared as a guest at the end of the show.
Now that the spin-off is a success, I think Love Live! The franchise could do another mockumentary about one of their existing school idol groups… like Nijigasaki School Idol Club. Oh, I’d like to see the light novel starring Setsuna Yuki get an anime adaptation soon!
