Re:Zero Part 3 Review of episode 4: Another episode from Re:Zero Season 3 or Re:ゼロから始める異世界生活 (Ri:Zero kara Hajimeru Isekai Seikatsu) showed us how troublesome the whole situation has become for Subaru. Let's see how this episode goes.
Re:Zero Part 3 Summary of episode 3
Right from the start, we see Regulus kidnap Emilia, claiming her as his bride and intending to marry her. This unexpected declaration left Subaru and Beatrice stunned and confused by this strange situation. Subaru's encounter with Regulus only highlights how useless Regulus truly is. When Subaru questions his motives, Regulus becomes angry, feeling insulted that Subaru did not introduce himself properly when they first met. He complains about how Subaru violated his human rights by not observing basic manners.
As if dealing with a madman wasn't enough, we are introduced to Sirius, Archbishop of the Sin of Wrath, whose claims are even more disturbing. When she sees Subaru using the lazy version of his power, she mistakes him for Petelgeuse and begins passionately declaring her love for him. Sirius is under the illusion that Petelgeuse loves her, and this has led to an unhealthy obsession with him.
Meanwhile, chaos is spreading across Priestella as two more Sinful Archbishops reveal themselves. We later learn that the Witch Cult has taken control of the city's four towers, giving them the power to open the floodgates and engulf the entire city. This adds to the danger, as not only has Emilia been captured by Regulus, but the entire city is in danger as well.
Re:Zero Part 3 Review episode 4
Garf and Mimi stumble upon a very unstable situation in the city and suddenly find themselves in trouble. They confront two members of the Witch Cult, who are extremely powerful. Realizing their disadvantage, Mimi begged Garf not to engage them in a serious battle and just fend them off for a while to escape to safety. They agreed to that plan, and it all fell apart. Their interaction is fruitless as Mimi is seriously injured, and a very frantic Garf immediately takes her to their shelter.
The situation around the city was somewhat similar as people were being attacked left and right by the many sinful archbishops who had invaded. Basically, the Lust of Sin Archbishop is becoming a threat whose henchmen are also the ones responsible for Mimi's situation. In such a situation, all the major influencers, along with Subaru, come together to plan their next move.
Subaru knew he would have to act on Emilia, but the city's situation was also a problem. He cannot ignore everything around him and run to find the person he loves. Therefore, he decided to settle the matter with the Archbishop of Lust and Sin first and then rescue Emilia. The troublesome thing is that Lust blatantly wants to find the witch's remains.
Subaru learns from Kiritaka that it is true that the witch's remains are somewhere in the city, but that it is impossible to hand them over to anyone. The remains are actually powering the city and if someone tried to exploit them, the city would be destroyed. Therefore, Subaru and the others will have to engage in battle with the archbishops and find a way to stop them without agreeing to their demands.
Verdict
Today's episode was quite good, but a bit slow at the beginning. The action and things start to pick up in the second half. Subaru finally meets the enemy he has wanted to defeat for so long. It was none other than the Gluttony of Sin Archbishop who erased Rem's memories.
