Rusty Rabbit is coming soon, a 2.5D side-scrolling action adventure game developed by Gen Urobuchi created, has had its September 24 release date pushed back to sometime in 2025. The delay was influenced by the decision to create a Nintendo Switch version of the game alongside the previously announced PlayStation 5 and PC (Steam) versions.
A statement from the development team said that the decision to add a Switch release was “to ensure that more players can enjoy the engaging story, diverse characters, action, and exciting feeling of mining.”
It also apologized for “the inconvenience caused,” adding that “For those who pre-ordered the game through the PlayStation Store, refunds will be issued in accordance with the platform’s cancellation policy.”
Rusty Rabbits is set on a frozen Earth abandoned by humans thousands of years ago, where rabbits are now the dominant species. The protagonist is a middle-aged rabbit who goes deep into some ruins with his machine to find his daughter. The game started as a hobby project for Urobuchi and is a collaboration between Nitroplus and NetEase Games.
