Yostar Games announced at Anime Expo plans to release the game in English.
The game Heaven Burns Red launched in February 2022. The game was previously scheduled to launch in 2020 for iOS and Android devices, but was delayed to mid-2021, after that was delayed again to a common date of 2021, before the latest delay to February 2022. The game is available in Japan for iOS, Android, and Steam. This game is Maeda's first completely new game in 13 years.
Visual Arts/Key and WFS are credited with the original idea, and they are collaborating to produce the project. Maeda is providing the main scenario for the game. Yuugen (Outbreak Company) provided the visual and main character designs based on the original designs of Na-Ga (Angel Beats!, Little Busters!), Fumuyun and maroyaka. Maeda also produced music for the game and provided themes and insert songs with Nagi Yanagi (Waiting in Summer, IRODUKU: The World in Colors songs).
Yostar describes the game:
Surrounded by mysterious lifeforms known as “Phage”, Earth teeters on the brink of destruction. All human weapons proved useless against the Phage's onslaught and without any means to fight back, humanity was forced to retreat. Lands were abandoned and nations were wiped out in the chaos that followed. Now, more than half of the Earth's surface has been lost to the Phage.
With little time left and extinction looming, humanity has developed a brand new, ultimate weapon called the “Seraph” and those gifted with Seraphim can finally fight. strongly against Phage. Those who can master their Seraphim are gathered to create a special squadron, becoming humanity's last beacon of hope. They have one thing in common: they are all girls with special talents. Among them is Ruka Kayamori, ready to rush into battle against Phage.
Kadokawa published the Heaven Burns Red Manga Anthology in September 2023.
