One Piece is one of the most famous Shonen manga and anime series.
Its layers of mystery add to the story's appeal. And one of the biggest mysteries in One Piece is the legendary treasure that Luffy wants to get his hands on.
The last words of the Pirate King, Gol D. Roger sparked the Great Pirate Era when countless people set sail in search of the One Piece treasure. It is said that it will bring Wealth, Fame and Power to whoever finds it. However, even after more than 22 years since Roger's death, no one has yet reached the final island – Laugh Tale, where the Pirate King kept his treasure.
Although the story doesn't reveal anything about what this treasure is or the ending, One Piece author Eiichiro Oda finished arranging the climax 25 years ago. Not only that, his words also assured fans that the series will have a really good ending.
In 1999, Oda shared: “I've decided to wrap up and draw the final panel. I'll focus on both the crew and the outside world.”
Furthermore, he also said in 2019: “OnePiece Treasure is not about the Straw Hats' friendship or the journey. I hate things like that. Just like in Wizard of Oz, where the journey is the treasure, Luffy will have a great adventure , but he will get a real treasure.”
The One Piece manga series has come a long way since its debut in 1997.
The story is currently ongoing with the second part of the Final Saga, the Elbaf arc, so the story will end in a few years. Elbaf is the kingdom of the Giants, where the Straw Hats will have a new adventure and can get one step closer to the great treasure.
One fan commented on the treasure: “One Piece is heading for an epic ending! Oda has a specific ending in mind, possibly involving a real treasure that brings the world closer together, overcoming the Red Line's separation and Grand Line. Can't wait to see how it goes.”
