The popular manga Jujutsu Kaisen (JJK) may have ended, but author Gege Akutami's career is just beginning.
Jujutsu Kaisen was the mangaka's first serialized manga and it became a global phenomenon. Although the ending is quite controversial, there is an undeniable fact, Jujutsu Kaisen is still loved by fans.
In a recent article about Manga Musings shared by Viz, Gege Akutami said: “This is the final chapter! Thank you everyone for your support! I will do my best to prepare for the next challenge!”
Each week, the magazine will publish several manga chapters and comments from the author. Viz shares Mangaka Musings is where mangakas share their thoughts about the series, anime, or anything else.
Akutami confirmed that he will make more manga in the future and fans will definitely want to see more of his work. Since the author made no promises about the Jujutsu Kaisen part 2 manga, he may create a completely new series.
Famous Jujutsu Kaisen account Myamura also shared this message on Twitter/X. One fan commented: “Gege is truly a genius, in fact JJK is his first manga. His writing style is not very good but the author has created interesting characters and stories. He has great potential in the future.”
“You seem like a great guy but please write a better ending next time!”another person added.
Finally, it seems that fans are gradually accepting that there will be no Jujutsu Kaisen part 2: “Gege writes beautifully. 'Ending' doesn't seem like the real ending but a preparation for what's to come. It seems like the real ending is the story of Sukuna. This is the story of Sukuna. And honestly, Sukuna's story feels complete.”
Indeed, Jujutsu Kaisen is a fighting shonen manga, focusing mainly on battles and complex power systems. The story is set in a world where curses are born from negative emotions. These curses come in many forms and threaten humanity.
While there are necromancers fighting the curse, the root of the problem never ends. The final battle in Shinjuku features the necromancers banding together to defeat Curse King Sukuna, Kenjaku, and Uraume. Kenjaku was the first to fall, followed by Sukuna and then Uraume, who committed suicide.
In the end, Jujutsu Kaisen has an ambiguous ending due to the existence of Sukuna's finger. The last finger is sealed somewhere in a wooden box.
