Crunchyroll previously announced the series for the Europe and Africa regions. The film’s official English subtitles trailer was streamed by Viz on their YouTube channel.

Captain Tsubasa is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Yoichi Takahashi.

To prepare for the International Youth Tournament, Japan selected players from the Nankatsu Middle School and Toho Academy High School teams: Tsubasa, Taro, Genzo, Kojiro and Ken. They join some of Japan’s best players in Paris. They will need to defeat the best teams around the world to become champions. The competition is very fierce. Let the tournament begin!
The Captain Tsubasa manga was originally serialized in Shueisha’s Shonen manga magazine, Weekly Shonen Jump magazine from 1981 to 1988, with the chapters collected into a total of 37 tankobon volumes. This was followed by many sequels to the manga.
The original manga was adapted into an anime television series, produced by Tsuchida Production, which aired on TV Tokyo from 1983 to 1986. Many films and television series followed this series. The latest broadcast from 2018 to 2019.
Viz Media has licensed the anime including digital streaming, electronic sales (EST), home video, and merchandise rights in North America and Latin America. The English dub of the anime aired on Primo TV in the United States in August 2018.
As of 2018, the manga series has sold more than 80 million copies worldwide, becoming one of the best-selling manga series.
