Yasuto Nishikata (Hortensia Saga) is directing the anime adaptation, with Souta Yokote (artist and script director of Insomniacs After School Volume 10) serving as assistant director, and Hiroyuki Yoshino (Mai-Hime, Magi) writing the series scripts film, Yuki Hino is the character designer and Kevin Penkin (Made in Abyss, The Rising of the Shield Hero) is the composer. Goodbye, Earth is based on the fantasy novel written by Tow Ubukata and illustrated by Yoshitaka Amano, first published by Kadokawa Shoten on December 25, 2000 in two volumes. The publisher later republished the novel in four volumes from September 22, 2007 to February 28, 2008 under the Kadokawa Bunko label, with new illustrations by Kim Hyung Tae.
