Adding to the confusion, SHAFT was initially credited as production support for ERROR MOVIE-produced the show, but not long after that credit disappeared. A tweet by the show’s animation producer, which said SHAFT would be involved in parts such as animation and compilation from Episode 3, has also been deleted.
Zom 100 is based on a manga written by Shogakukan Haro Aso and drawn by Koutaro Takatawhich Viz Media describes as:
In an apartment full of trash, Akira Tendo, 24 years old, watched a movie about zombies with a lifeless mood and envious eyes. After three years of hard work at a sweatshop in Japan, his spirit broke down. He doesn’t even have the courage to confess his feelings to his beautiful colleague Ohtori. Then one morning, he ran into his landlord having lunch—who happened to be another tenant! The entire city is filled with zombies, and even though he’s running for his life, Akira has never felt more alive!
The manga began serialization in Monthly Sunday GX magazine in 2018 and has 15 tankoubon volumes as of September 2023. The anime is streamed on Netflix, Hulu, Crunchyroll, Muse Asia, and Bilibili outside Japan .
