Sakurai detailed the game proposal in the final episode of his YouTube series
Super Smash Bros. game director. and Kirby creator Masahiro Sakurai posted a special 46-minute finale to his YouTube channel about the game's development on Tuesday. In the video, he teased that he received a request to write a game proposal in July 2021, which he completed at lightning speed. He could resume production with a target time frame starting in April 2022, but he needs time to assemble a team. So he started planning his YouTube channel about game development during that time. He said that assuming he can complete the game, it will be announced “sooner or later.” He explains more about his channel throughout the video. In August 2022, Sakurai launched his YouTube channel about game development, titled “Masahiro Sakurai on Game Creation” and styled after Mr. Sakurai Presents video presentations. In his final video, Sakura explained that while waiting for the new team to be assembled, he decided to open a YouTube channel. Up until his most recent videos, he filmed all the footage for his channel two and a half years ago.
Super Smash Bros. Ultimate was released for Nintendo Switch in December 2018. The game includes all previously playable characters and supports eight-player battles.
Sakurai founded Sora Ltd. in September 2005. Through his studio Project Sora, he created the game Kid Icarus: Ustanding for Nintendo 3DS in March 2012.
