Anime NYC and the Japan Society have teamed up to launch the US Manga Awards, the first-ever awards program honoring the manga and story creators and publishing professionals who bring them to readers. counterfeit in the United States and Canada.
The awards ceremony will take place on August 22, 2024, at the Japan Society's Lila Acheson Wallace Auditorium in Midtown Manhattan, the night before Anime NYC begins.
The invitation-only event will be hosted by author and translator Matt Alt and will recognize achievements in eight categories:

To be eligible for submission, manga must be published in English (print or e-book) between August 1, 2023 and July 30, 2024.

The best new manga must have its first volume published (print or digital) within these qualifying dates. The best continuing Manga series must have at least one volume published (print or digital) during the qualifying dates. The best new version of a classic Manga must be a new manga version in English (single volume or series).-volume series) first published in Japan at least 20 years ago (for 2024, Expiry date is December 31, 2004)
Publishers are allowed to submit up to three titles per category.

A panel of industry experts will select the nominees for the inaugural American Manga Awards.
The Best Translation nominees will be chosen by translators and authors Matt Alt and Hiroko Yoda. Humorous letterers Tom Orzechowski and Nate Piekos will select the Best Lettering nominees. Kinokuniya Bookstore East Coast Regional Director Shiegkazu Watanabe and publication designer Sasha Head will decide on the nominations for Best Publication Design.
A committee includes Brigid Alverson (ICv2, School Library Journal), Shaenon Garrity (Otaku USA, Publishing Weekly), Minovsky, Renee Scott (Senior Librarian at the New York Public Library), and Lynzee Loveridge (ANN) will select the nominees for Best New Manga, Best Continuing Manga, and Best New Version of a Classic Manga.
