3 new actors play the Self-Defense Forces
The production of Naoya Matsumoto’s 8th Kaiju anime revealed three more cast members on Friday.

The anime will premiere in April 2024 and will air on TV Tokyo and its affiliates. Crunchyroll will stream the anime as it airs and will also stream the English dub. The anime will also stream on X/Twitter worldwide in real time as it airs on TV in Japan, at the same time the anime airs.
Anime stars:
Shigeyuki Miya (Onihei) is directing the animation. Ichiro Okouchi (Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion) will be in charge of the script and series layout. Tetsuya Nishio (Naruto) is the character designer and animation director. Mahiro Maeda (Shin Godzilla) is designing the monster. Shinji Kimura (Tekkonkinkreet) is the art director. Yuta Bando (BELLE) composes music.
Production IG (Ghost in the Shell) is in charge of the animation and Studio Khara (Rebuild of Evangelion) is in charge of the kaiju artwork and design.
Matsumoto launched the manga in July 2020 on Shueisha’s Shonen Jump+ website. The first printed volume shipped in December 2020, and it has since had many more printings due to demand. Shueisha published the manga’s 11th compiled book volume on December 4.
Viz Media licensed the manga. The company releases chapters in digital and physical formats. Shueisha published the manga on its MANGA Plus service under the title Monster #8 and describes the story:
A man working in a job far from his childhood dreams is caught up in an unexpected situation…! Becoming a monster, he once again aims to realize his lifelong dream…!
In September 2021, the manga surpassed 4 million copies in circulation, becoming the fastest Shonen Jump+ manga (as opposed to a manga running in Shueisha’s print magazine) to reach the milestone .
The series was nominated for the 14th Manga Taisho Awards in January 2021, the Tezuka Osamu Cultural Award in February 2022, and the Eisner Award in May 2022. It took first place in the”Next Manga Awards ”(Tsugi ni Kuru Manga Taishō) for the seventh time in the web manga category in August 2021. Kentarō Hidano will launch the spinoff manga on January 5.
