Wind Breaker Episode 10 begins by solving all the problems. Read ahead to find out everything in detail.
Wind Breaker Episode 9 Summary
This episode begins with a tense confrontation between Ume and Choji, which escalates into a serious hand-to-hand fight. The confrontation was fierce and even, with both fighters receiving damage. However, it is clear that Choji was more psychologically affected after the war. Choji uses an acrobatic fighting style, using his entire body to perform a combination of strikes and kicks. In contrast, Ume still maintains his traditional style, relying on powerful punches and outstanding speed.
Choji was clearly stunned that he was being dominated, as he was used to being the dominant fighter. Despite his efforts to increase his speed and vary his attacks, Ume continued to counterattack with heavy punches. What's interesting is that Ume doesn't protect herself much; instead, he absorbs Choji's attacks while moving strategically to exhaust Choji.
Choji's core problem is his mental and psychological state. He begins to behave almost childishly when he feels cornered, emphasizing how much he needs this punishment to reset his thinking and approach. Although the physical fight doesn't last long, Choji's internal struggle takes up most of the episode.
The ending of the episode is quite predictable, following the typical Shounen formula. Ultimately, a conversation will help resolve the conflict, leading to an “all's well and ends well” moment. This episode, while action-packed, ultimately focuses on Choji's character development and the psychological battles he faces.
Wind Breaker episode 10 review
Today, we get the aftermath of the big battle and everything is back to normal as before. Ume was the first to evict everyone present in the hall to watch the match, shocking everyone. They must have thought that after winning, Ume would become the leader of Shishitoren, and Choji, along with Jo, would receive some kind of punishment for instigating the whole thing.
However, we've already seen what Ume is like, and it's only natural that he wouldn't follow that path. He even asked Jo if they could all order takeout and celebrate, which they would do on the rooftop. This is when Jo knelt down and vehemently apologized for what he and his boss had done.
Choji also followed his example, he also accepted his foolish actions and asked for a suitable punishment. But Ume tells Sakura to decide on their punishment, knowing that he won't be able to do it, as he is a soft-hearted person. Sakura, obviously just told them to stop being lame and try to be cooler than before.
With this episode it is very clear why Ume became the leader and achieved the top position at Bofurin. He correctly explains to Choji why he's happy to be at the top. According to him, he always wanted to be with people and eat delicious food. To make that happen, he must ensure the safety of the town and for that, he is happy to do good things. Additionally, he also made Sakura understand that no one can be at the top without the help of others.
This reminds Sakura of Kotoha saying the same thing when he first arrived. She also mentioned that Sakura won't come out on top because he wants to do everything alone. On the other hand, Ume became a leader with the help of his colleagues who understood his vision and helped him achieve the top position.
Decision
Today's episode is very light and focuses more on the consequences of things. It looks like we're at the end of season one and we won't be encountering any more intense battles or disputes this season. Overall, today's episode was pretty normal and it was a much-needed break after all the fighting.
