Back in 2017, Castlevania made a name for itself by bringing us a thrilling story with great animation. Well, the new series in the same universe has an even more enchanting animation style that no fan can get tired of praising.
Besides that, what makes the new Castlevania so appealing are the great characters and the surprise appearance of Alucard, a fan-favorite character from the original series. And by bringing Alurard into the picture, the creators have put eagle-eyed fans in an awkward position.
Even if Drolta is killed by Alucard, there are still more significant threats that Belmont must deal with, especially the most powerful one, the Messiah. So if Alucard’s few-second cameo means he’ll once again help the Belmont clan deal with vampires like he did before, then a new season is likely.
Will there be Castlevania: Nocturne Season 2?
As of September 2023, there is no official news about the renewal of Castlevania: Nocturne, but fans on social media have already started crying for Season 2.
It’s worth mentioning Castlevania: Nocturne Season 2 was announced the same day that the first season, with four episodes, was released on Netflix. However, even though the same pattern is not being applied this time, it does not mean that the series has been canceled by the streamer.
The Castlevania: Nocturne production studio is currently working on several projects, including Tomb Raider: The Legend of Lara Croft, and that could be why a new installment of the series has yet to be announced. We hope to receive good news once the production team has time to attend to their other work commitments.
Beyond that, we should have high hopes, especially after the surprising ending of the first part of Castlevania: Nocturne. The original series ended in 2021, giving us a happy ending and we all know that Richter and Maria’s fight against evil is not over yet so the series will definitely have one new. And if the season gets the green light in late 2023, we’ll likely have new episodes on our screens in 2024.
Explore the Castlevania: Nocturne Season 1 timeline
Castlevania: Nocturne Season 1 takes place in 1792, which is 300 years after the events of the first Castlevania series. Nocturne’s plot takes place in the midst of the French Revolution.
Since the story takes place during the French Revolution, we see Europe divided into two camps. On one side is the Church and its millions of believers, on the other side are the revolutionaries who are gradually becoming a threat to the Church.
The film is about a boy named Richter Belmont, who lives with his mother in Boston, but his mother wants to send him to Russia with his aunt Tera. Initially, he did not agree to go there, but after his mother was killed by Orlox, a vampire, he had to go live with his aunt and her daughter, Maria.
The world is being terrorized by the devourer of light, the Messiah, a vampire who does not kill his prey outright but prefers to see the life slowly drain from their bodies. Because Richter belongs to a famous vampire hunting family, he cannot let vampires invade the human world. So, he decided to continue his family’s legacy.
At first, he is unaware of his innate abilities, but as soon as he falls into a difficult situation, where he is surrounded by the Messiah’s minions, he realizes his true potential and fight every enemy as his ancestors did.
