「森の見る夢」 (Mori no Miru Yume)
“What the forest dreams about”
I find it kind of funny that we have things like Untitled Memory and Spice and Wolf both airing at the same time-and I personally have to cover both. There is an increasingly nice synergy between the two, in that both show a fairly sporadic relationship (by age) with organic growth and supplementation with promise (or at least hopefully) there will be more to come. While I've always leaned towards Spice and Wolf due to the nature of the content, I'd also say that Unnamed Memories is doing a great job competing for the top spot.
Given that the big unknown of Unnamed Memory is the true nature of the witches in its world, let's go and see an episode where we get a little more information about them. The leader this time is Lucrezia, the so-called Witch of the Forest, who in addition to her obvious passion for herbs and enjoying nature also gets her big kicks from her sly flirtation with sexual violence have strong impact. Oscar's encounter with her and the subsequent little story involving daring magic in a dream reveals two things: that witches are much more dangerous than might initially appear (*giggles in wet dreams, literally kills you*) and that Oscar, for all his playing, is exactly that. actually sees Tinasha as a viable partner that even the King would choose. It's a combination that hints at some important dilemmas later, because if Oscar and Tinasha both want to stay out of each other's problems, at some point they'll encounter someone who has no choice. Look no further—and are unlikely to escape without scratches. Tinasha's injury and subsequent recovery from last week was not a one-off but a foreshadowing and rest assured the costs will be paid in full.
Proving this point are this episode's other cameos in the form of an unnamed villain and the recurring duo of Valt and Miralis. Simply put, this is a tease through and through: all three know and are familiar with Tinasha (in the case of our faceless face to the extent that Tinasha is looking for him), all three are is pursuing something monster-related, and Tinasha's eventual stumble will likely happen sooner rather than later. It's too early to fully understand what will happen with this storyline, but it's probably safe to say that it involves witches and could be the reason Tinasha locked herself in that tower.
At least on the plus side it won't be boring at that point, because if Oscar and Tinasha can keep up scenes like this, we certainly won't be short of interesting material to dig into.
