A website opened on Monday to announce the television anime adaptation of Ryō Hiromatsu's novel Busamen Gachi Fighter (Uglymug, Epicfighter). The website also announced that Junichi Suwabe will voice main character Shigeru Yoshioka, and revealed the main cast and teaser images.

EGG FIRM produced the anime and White Fox was responsible for producing the anime production.
The website also announced that a sequel to the manga adaptation of the novel titled Busa-men Gachi-Fighter SSS (with SSS standing for Sugoi Side Story) will debut in the magazine's first issue in 2025. Square Enix's Monthly Big Gangan magazine on December 25. More details about the sequel manga will be revealed at a later date.

Square Enix's UP Comics! Global publishes the manga adaptation of the novel by Osamu Kozuki under the English titles Uglymug, Epicfighter and describes the story:
His appearance is-255, touching girls causes him pain, and sexual acts will literally tear him apart. What could our former salesman Shigeru get in the afterlife in exchange for such inconveniences…? This is an epic story about a very ugly but ridiculously strong man!
Kozuki launched the first manga adaptation in Monthly Big Gangan magazine in 2017 and the series ended in 2020. Square Enix has published six compilation volumes of the manga.
Hiromatsu launched the novel on the Shōsetsuka ni Narō website in 2015, and published the final chapter in October 2022. Kobunsha published a volume of the novel in 2018.
