The first half of the second season premiered in Japan on Tokyo MX on April 6 and concluded on June 22. The second part of the season will premiere on October 5. The series will once again airs on Tokyo MX on Thursdays at 10:00 p.m., before being broadcast on BS11, Sun TV and KBS Kyoto, as well as on the Amazon Prime Video and Lemino streaming services in Japan. The previous anime in the series was the three-episode The Ancient Magus’Bride-The Boy From the West Project and The Blue Storm Knight OAD (original anime disc). The project comes with limited editions of volumes 16, 17 and 18 of the manga. Volume 16 was published in September 2021 and volume 17 was published on March 10, 2022. Volume 18 was published on September 9, 2022. The staff described the OAD series as “the first part” of a new anime project.
Crunchyroll is streaming the OAD project worldwide outside of Asia.
The manga previously inspired an anime television season that premiered in Japan in 2017. Crunchyroll streamed the season in Japanese with English subtitles, and Funimation streamed the English dub for this series. The manga also inspired a prequel original video anime (OVA) series titled The Ancient Magus’Bride: Those Awaiting a Star in 2017. Funimation released all 24 episodes of the companion television series OVA on home video in 2019.
Yamazaki launched The Ancient Magus’Bride manga in Mag Garden’s Monthly Comic Blade magazine in 2013, but the magazine ceased publication in September 2014. The manga was later transferred to the publisher’s Monthly Comic Garden magazine. and continues to publish. The comic series has more than 10 million copies in circulation.
Seven Seas Entertainment is releasing the manga in English. Seven Seas is also releasing several spin-off manga and additional books in the series.
