Legendary’s Monsterverse cinematic universe brings a story around humanity’s battle for survival with destructive monsters. In 2014, this cinematic universe kicked off with the first movie Godzilla, followed by Kong: Skull Island in 2017, Godzilla: King of the Monsters in 2019 and most recently the blockbuster 2021 Godzilla vs. Kong. These titles have grossed approximately $2 billion at the global box office.
And recently, Warner Bros. Pictures and Legendary Pictures have revealed the official title for the latest movie of the “monster universe” Monsterverse, which is Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire. Attached is a mysterious video revealing the future of the two legendary Titans.
Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire is the fifth film in the Monsterverse franchise, and this time, two famous Titans will join hands and face a threat that could destroy all life on the planet.
The film will take audiences to explore a whole new, never-before-seen world, filled with new types of monsters, brave adventurers, and epic settings on a scale never before seen.
The latest installment of the Monsterverse cinematic universe will continue the explosive confrontation in Godzilla vs. Kong with a whole new adventure. An almighty Kong and a fear-stricken Godzilla, the two will fight together against a mysterious threat lurking in our world, challenging the existence of these two Titans – and humanity as a whole.
This new cinematic blockbuster delves deeper into the origin history of the 2 Titans, the mystery of Skull Island and more. Along with that, the film’s story also explores the mythical battle that helped forge these extraordinary creatures and bind them to humanity forever.
Following in the footsteps of Godzilla vs. Kong, director Adam Wingard will return to the Monsterverse cinematic universe. Along with him, names from the previous film such as Rebecca Hall (as Dr. Ilene Andrews), Brian Tyree Henry (as Bernie Hayes) and Kaylee Hottle (as Jia) will also return in this movie. Some of the new faces that will be joining Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire are Dan Stevens, Fala Chen and Rachel House. The screenplay was written by Simon Barrett.
Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire is scheduled to premiere on March 14, 2024.
