While last week's show for Fairy Tail's D-listers was a welcome surprise, I'm still not excited about this being extended with another fight sequence, and what what we got this time really didn't help much with that. Before we get into all that, though, as always, we have another short to kick things off, and this one is about Brandish playing around while continuing his search for the Aquarius key. Despite all her claims that she was taking her search seriously, she was quite distracted enjoying some local roller coasters and eating parfaits. So much so that she didn't notice all the destruction caused by Naruto and the others' battle, even when the dining area she was sitting in was almost reduced to rubble. It's great that this story is at least directly related to what's going on in the show, but it's not the best we've gotten out of these stories, and this one just doesn't fit. with me.
Speaking of things that don't sit well with me, get over it because it's time to once again dive into the romantic mess of Fairy Tail. First up, we have the tag team of Gray and Juvia to fight against one of the God Seeds, which are as cute and cursed as whatever you're imagining when you hear the words “Tag Team Gray and Juvia”. Juvia tries to attack it with her water magic but forgets that plants can absorb water and ends up only being absorbed by herself (which, to her, seems to qualify as an NTR) and stringing vines to use as a shield against Gray. By this point, I was almost ready to give up on this fight because it felt like an unnecessary bit of fan service, and even with my mixed feelings about Juvia as as a character, I'm a little annoyed to see her used as a prop like this one. However, there is at least one redeeming moment here, when Gray refuses to attack Juvia, he is forced to be a little more honest about how he feels about her and says that she “becomes strength his”, that is the closest thing. he went to a real confession.
It's sweet enough that I'm almost willing to overlook some of the previous things. That's why this moment was truncated by…Juvia was so excited to hear this from Gray that her water form became too boiling for the God Seed to contain, and this made Gray came up with the idea of using her water for her ice attacks while she kept “ooh” and “ahh”-ing. It's certainly not the worst joke we've ever seen about Juvia's obsession with Gray, but it reminded me how hard it is to take their relationship seriously. Which is also a shame, because I really wanted them to be a couple. There's even some cute banter between the two of them after the battle when Juvia tries to ask Gray for a kiss but he tries to ignore it because he's too embarrassed, and it just makes me wish he could have. moves a little more like that instead of every other sentence coming out of Juvia's mouth being about how much she wants to throw herself at him when both their relationship and her personality would benefit from she tones it all down a bit. Right now, things still seem too unbalanced between them, and I don't feel hopeful that that will change any time soon.
Sadly, that wasn't my only complaint this week about the characters being entangled in the red strings of fate, but it was for the opposite reason, as we also got some regarding Erza and Jellal. When Jellal fights another God Seed, it reveals that it has the power to suppress a person's thoughts to prevent them from attacking and uses this to mess with Jellal's mind to the point where he imagines himself being attacked by Erza (yeah, I'm not sure how that works either). From this, we learn that even though Jellal has tried to atone for his past sins, he is still too preoccupied with all the things he did to her in the past to feel sorry for her. saw that he could allow himself to be with her. While it's certainly not unreasonable for him to still feel this way, it's a bit frustrating since he's more or less completed his redemption arc and the last few episodes have made it extremely clear how much he and Erza wanted each other. It doesn't help that when Laxus presses Erza about her relationship with Jellal and calls him her boyfriend, she's still too embarrassed to admit she likes him, and since we're already deep into sequel territory , it's hard not to wish. These two will get over themselves and kiss already.
Luckily, all the strange shenanigans the God Seed gets up to seem to be enough to trigger Ultear's strange time ghost to appear and she tells Jellal that he needs to stop focusing on sin. and instead focus on living for her and repaying her for all the things she has done for him. This also somehow gave Jellal the idea to separate the guilt from his body into his Siegrain image all the way from the Tower of Heaven and use that opportunity to attack and win the war . The biggest credit I can usually give Fairy Tail when it comes to battles is that while the execution is quite simple, it's also usually quite easy to do, so I can't say I care for the feel of it. How complicated is this particular feeling of victory? However, with Jellal presumably over his hang-up, there's still hope that things between him and Erza might finally start to go somewhere, and while I'm less optimistic about that prospect , but I want to believe that Mashima will also be very exhausted. them, right” when he can from this.
So…yeah, I can't say I feel like I've gotten much out of this second round of fights but I'm at least happy that we seem to have gotten through them pretty quickly, so all What's left is Natsu confronting Aldoron. I'm not sure what will happen in this part, although I did like Naruto's line right before the credits when Aldoron tried to suggest that he and Ignia were brothers just because Naruto said the only brother The only thing he has is Zeref. As awkward as that whole reveal was when Zeref first revealed that information, it was nice to see that Naruto sorted out some of his feelings there, and even though I don't imagine that he forgot about any of Zeref's past actions, but it makes the scene between the two of them a few episodes ago a little sweeter. However, this exchange only makes me more interested in how things will end between Naruto and Ignia, so I can only hope that it won't be long before we can see these two again. cousin.
