An Oshi no Ko fan reimagined Obey Me’s Leviathan as a Hoshino-style pop star.
Leviathan is one of the protagonists of the romantic simulation RPG card mobile game called Obey Me! One Master to Rule Them All, in which the player attends a demon school and flirts with one of seven demon brothers. The artwork, created by Twitter user @okitahc, shows the demon Leviathan posing in Ai Hoshino’s signature pose. Leviathan also features the same iconic eye design as the pop star and her two children, Aquamarine and Ruby.
The unique story of Oshi no Ko
The original Oshi no Ko manga series was written by Aka Akasaka (Kaguya-Sama: Love Is War) and illustrated by Mengo Yokoyari. The series launched in Shueisha’s Weekly Young Jump magazine in April 2020. The plot revolves around a rural gynecologist named Gorou Amemiya, who experiences a life-changing event as an idol. A pregnant teen named Hoshino Ai walks into his clinic.
Surprised that her favorite pop star has come to him for help, Amemiya prepares to deliver her baby, but dies in a tragic accident before he can. Soon, he discovered that he had been reincarnated as Hoshino’s infant son, Aquamarine. In her new form, Amemiya gains new insight into the struggles that come with life as a star, and tries to help Hoshino find happiness with the help of her twin sister. me, Ruby. Although the anime focuses heavily on family affection, viewers also interpret it as a harsh criticism of Japan’s modern idol industry.
Despite its unusual premise, Oshi no Ko has become a huge hit with audiences, with over 3 million copies in circulation, as of October 2022. When Koga Dobo announced the Oshi no Ko anime series , this title has surpassed famous predecessors like Demon Slayer to become the #1 most anticipated anime in spring 2023. The first episode of Oshi no Ko premiered on April 12 and the anime is currently currently ranked as the highest-rated series on MyAnimeList, beating both Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood and Attack on Titan with an impressive 9.22 Rating. Akasaka is also collaborating with popular VTuber, 5mm Nishizawa on a new manga called Love Agency, which will premiere in Weekly Young Jump on April 27. While Nishizawa produces the doujin manga, Love Agency will be their first comic book project.
