Jujutsu Kaisen certainly hasn’t lost its shine even after the death of fan-favorite Gojo Satoru, as Sukuna continues to battle hordes of modern and ancient witches! But it would be wise to remember that Sukuna is not the only enemy.
The one pulling the strings from behind is Kenjaku, who has caused chaos and is determined to turn the world to his will. At the end of chapter 239, a certain witch appears, claiming to defeat Kenjaku: Dangerous Takaba!
Goofy comedian Takaba arrives on the scene, ready to steal the show, but is it just another joke, or does he have a chance?
Join me as we learn about the eccentric Takaba and his Cursed Technique, which may not be funny at all.
Who is Takaba?
Fumihiko Takaba was an unsuccessful comedian before Kenjaku’s Killing Game became a reality. He is the type of person who has awakened, who has awakened a curse technique.
He first appeared in the Killing Game, saving Megumi when he fought Reggie Star and Iori Hazenoki. With his goofy attitude, he seems like an anticlimactic hero.
He took care of Hazenoki without too much trouble when Hazenoki retreated from the fight. In chapter 240, we see a meeting in it Angel advises sending Takaba to fight Kenjaku before the result of the match Gojo vs Sukuna. She then goes on to explain his Cursed Technique, which we will also do.
Takaba’s Cursed Technique explained
Let’s talk about his Cursed Technique in detail. It is first explained in chapter 173 after the battle with Hazenoki. It is called Comedianif he comes up with something that he is sure will be funny, that will come true.
It was the same using his powers that he survived his fight with Hazenoki, another witch who used his body parts as explosions. It’s almost impossible not to be vulnerable to his attacks but Takaba does it.
But one thing Jujutsu Kaisen excels at is power balance, and as far as Takaba’s knowledge of his own cursed technique goes, he knew absolutely nothing about it. He doesn’t know how his powers work.
Although surviving a dangerous ordeal like the Killing Game is something to brag about, Gege decided to drop another hint: his strength is comparable to even Gojo Satoru.
Before we go further into that, we also have to address Kenjaku’s situation because sending someone like him to fight against the most dangerous enemy is not a plan that one person can come up with. .
When Kenjaku begins to attack, Takaba makes light of his attacks and taunts him by turning his attacks into petty magic tricks. Such mockery leads Kenjaku to believe that Takaba’s power can manifest phenomena and create anything he imagines. He also admitted that the Jujutsu knowledge he had acquired over a thousand years might have no effect.
After attending a Ted talk about Comedy and how to incorporate jokes and punch lines, Kenjaku also deduced that he could claim confidence and certainty and in fact, that’s quite true because Takaba needs to make sure his jokes are funny.
Angel’s advice to send Takaba to someone like Maki or Okkotsu might clear up since the war isn’t over yet. At the end of chapter 241, we witness Takaba’s backstory through his failures in comedy and his new goal of making people laugh. The fight is not over yet and we are as excited as you in this funny battle!
Can Takaba defeat Gojo?
Now, a really interesting point that Gege brings up is that his cursed technique can prove effective even against Gojo Satoru. Before we move on to the “Gojo cheats” and “No, I will win” jokes, let’s give an objective assessment of this particular claim.
Gojo is definitely one of the strongest characters (if not the strongest) and has no chance of winning that easily. Now considering Takaba’s cursed technique, if the odds of defeating the strongest were zero, then it would make sense for Takaba to consider it a really, really funny joke.
In fact, it would create a devastating end for someone like Gojo if Takaba thought things like “HAHA, Gojo is so weak that I can defeat him with just one hand!” It’s certainly as funny as it is stupid and useless.
But it’s not that simple. When Gege mentioned that saying, he did not mention Takaba. Instead, he was referring to the cursed technique.
Thanks to the awesome JJK subreddit, we have a clear answer to this problem. Takaba is simply not as strong as people think. What’s wrong?
Firstly, he didn’t know about his own cursed technique. That is the most important point that helps balance his power to a normal level. He doesn’t know anything. Second, he cannot think about defeating someone just for the sake of defeating someone.
If Takaba thought of Gojo’s death as a joke, it could theoretically kill him but if he thought of it as a way to kill Gojo and not as a joke then it wouldn’t work because of the condition. of his cursed technique is to come up with something really funny.
Also has cursed energy reserve points. For someone to defeat their opponents, cursed energy reserves also play a role. We do not know about Takaba’s cursed energy reserves and therefore we cannot say for sure whether his cursed technique directly overpowered Gojo.
All that remains is to see how Takaba deals with Kenny. We’ve seen the classic anime plot of a near-death experience, but what will it turn into? Glorious victory or glorious death? Let’s chat in the comments section!
