Comment from Alexandra Rutter:
“It is an honor to host the world premiere of the stage adaptation of ‘The Garden of Words’ in London and welcome the delegation from Japan to the Park Theatre.
Since conceiving the idea for the work nine years ago before finally seeing this stage come to fruition, I am truly filled with gratitude. Seeing the two Takao characters from England and Japan standing together on stage is special, and their strong friendship brings me joy! Among the London cast, Hiroki Berrecloth as Takao Akizuki and Shoko Ito as Shoko Aizawa have both debuted in live plays. I’m so excited and excited to be casting them and seeing them shine on stage.
For me, who has spent a lot of time living and working in Tokyo over the past ten years, it is now possible to return to London in this form with the best talent from Japan, the UK and the community. East Asia in the UK is a great pleasure. It is a blessing to be able to collaborate with a team full of collaborative spirit and talent, and also to have colleagues who have been with us since the very beginning of the 2020 concert. The pandemic to make this work possible is an honor and I hope it will become even stronger.
I am also excited and full of new hope to bring this work back to Tokyo and collaborate with talented people Japanese actors and creators. I’m eager to see how the Japanese cast will feel about the London performance and how we as a team will develop the production for the Japanese audience. After the London show, we’ll further tweak the script and incorporate elements from the London show, such as Keira Theodoro’s puppets and KENNY’s amazing visuals, to bring it to life. real on a big stage. I look forward to meeting everyone at the theater and sharing this special project.”
