「旅の道連れと不吉な知らせ」 (Tabi no Michidzure to Fukitsu-na Shirase)
“Traveler news and omens”
It's hard for me not to start dropping spoilers like crazy because if there was a calm before the stormy moments in Spice and Wolf thus far, this episode would be it. We've got the tension, we've got the plot, and if you haven't figured out where problems are going to arise for Kraft (and Holo), you better squint 'cause baby, we're about to some turbulence.
While Norah is to some extent a Yarei or Zheren—that is, a secondary support character—her presence and role will have a relatively overbearing impact as some may have been after. After all, the shepherd is the protector of the flock: any invader, regardless of origin, will be dealt with to keep everyone safe, even on roads considered the most dangerous . Considering Holo is quite literally a wolf in girl's clothing, it's not hard to see why a good portion of this episode has her acting annoyed with Norah and willing to criticize Kraft for his interactions with the shepherd. It seems like just a petty joke at the moment, but like the finale with Yarei's huge betrayal, there's a lot more lurking beneath the surface that Norah's presence will reveal . Let's say Kraft's current journey will take a bit of a turn around.
Speaking of the current journey, new city Ruvenheigen gives some hints about what's to come for our diverse merchant duo. In addition to Holo's constant desire to have all the food right at this point (rest assured that will be a running meme), there was also local hesitation shown when Kraft revealed its armor products himself along with the exceptional shortage of military forces said to be gathering here. time for the annual crusade expedition. While you can probably guess what happens when you put two and two together, I won't spoil it, partly because the solution to the basic problem makes for an interesting adventure and is the point. further significant development for Kraft and Holo's relationship.
Keeping quiet for another week sucks, but I'm certainly looking forward to seeing how this product adjusts to what's to come.
