The latest arc of Dragon Ball Super adapted from the recent movie
Dragon Ball Super is currently in the “Super Hero Saga,” adapted from the movie Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero. The main hook of the story involves the remnants of the Red Ribbon Army from the original Dragon Ball attempting to attack Gohan and Piccolo via the errant Androids Gamma 1 and 2. Meanwhile, Broly, Vegeta, and Goku Training continues on Beerus’ planet. This is the latest official manga adaptation of one of the Dragon Ball Super movies, although the content of Dragon Ball Super: Broly is mostly ignored.
Dragon Ball Super: Broly is the official retelling of Dragon Ball Z: Broly – the legendary Super Saiyan. In contrast, the movies for Dragon Ball Z don’t match the anime or manga, even though characters like Broly are becoming extremely popular. Dragon Ball Super: Broly brought him into current canon, albeit slightly reinterpreted from his original characterization.

Dragon Ball Super has revived the iconic franchise
While the manga adapted into both the Dragon Ball and Dragon Ball Z anime ending in 1995, the anime reached its peak of international popularity in the early 2000s. The manga for Dragon Ball Super did not begin until 20 years later, with its corresponding anime also starting in mid-2015. Dragon Ball Super is written by series creator Akira Toriyama, with art provided by Toyotarou. As an official sequel to the events of Dragon Ball Z, it replaced the unofficial Dragon Ball GT and was much more well received. The anime adaptation of Super ended in 2018, but the manga is still going strong. A new anime titled Dragon Ball Daima was also announced and is scheduled for release in fall 2024.
