It was a wild party in the student council room.
In 2007, Kodansha began publishing Tozen Ujiie's popular four-panel student council manga Seitokai Yakuin Domo. The series ran for a long time before ending in 2021 and it spawned several anime series. And, as if by fate, what could be called Seitokai Yakuin Domo, the spiritual successor to Seitokai Yakuin Domo, began publication a year later in 2022. This new series, Seitokai ni mo Ana wa Aru! by Manyimaro, is still young but has already gained a following. In fact, its following is so large that Kodansha decided to feature it in a new advertisement.

The manga's X (formerly Twitter) account revealed a new commercial on July 10. The post also quotes one of the characters saying, “Let's shoot a student council commercial!”

Shonen Magazine's YouTube channel then posted the ad on July 10. In the video's description, the publication notes that the series won the 2023 Next Manga Award and has over a million copies in circulation. The ad itself starts off a bit lewd, with male character Tan Otori bending over with his sweatshirt open. From there, the ad depicts the series' student council as if it's having a wild party — fitting, since the manga is a comedy.

It's nice to see Kodansha putting the spotlight on a relatively young series, but whether or not this will attract a wider audience remains to be seen. It's also worth noting that the ad doesn't mention that Seitokai ni mo Ana wa Aru! will be animated or translated in the future.
