Summary
The creators of Scott Pilgrim Takes Off were satisfied with the show’s ending and believed it was fine on its own. There are no official plans or ideas for a season 2 as the creators have put everything into season 1. Although a sequel is unlikely at the moment, the possibility of a season 2 is not completely ruled out if a great idea comes up.
The Scott Pilgrim Givesf anime is another great addition to the series and the first season has left fans craving for another. Franchise creator, Bryan Lee O’Malley, expressed his thoughts in a recent interview, sharing what he thinks about the eventual sequel.
In an interview with Rolling Stone, Bryan Lee O’Malley and BenDavid Grabinski (the film’s executive producers) went into depth about their direction in the anime and how it differs from the film and manga. At the end of the interview, they were asked about the possibility of a season 2.
O’Malley said there are no plans or ideas for part 2 of Scott Pilgrim Takes Off and they poured everything into the first season. He explained that, since scenery shows these days are often canceled after one season, leading to fan disappointment, they prefer to make a self-contained season 1. O’Malley said that “it would take about 50 different miracles simultaneously for another season to happen,” while Grabinski added that they’re not working on it and have no official ideas for a season 2.
The creators are satisfied with the show’s ending
Scott Pilgrim Takes Off is a self-contained story and the writers threw every idea they had into it.
One of the main reasons Grabinski and O’Malley don’t think the series will get a second season is because they are satisfied with how the anime ended, and while they don’t rule out the possibility of a sequel, it’s very unlikely, as they currently have no ideas. All the ideas they put into the first season and never seemed to have a plan for the next season.
We are not working on it. We have no official idea. We put everything we had into this and we think it has a really great ending that we’re proud of.
They were also motivated by the possibility of the series being canceled after the first season. This fate has befallen many popular shows like Daredevil and is a major point of contention for fans of the Netflix series. Taking this possibility into consideration, the production team made sure that there were no loose ends and came up with a convincing ending that not only satisfied them but also the fans. This paid off, as the ending of Scott Pilgrim Takes Off received a lot of praise for turning the film into a standalone series.
Part 2 is still possible
Maybe one day one of us will text each other a really great idea for Part Two.
However, despite O’Malley and Grabinski’s heartfelt words, the possibility of a second season of the show should not be completely ruled out. The two have clearly stated that there is a possibility that a sequel could happen as long as they come up with a great idea that makes the movie worth it. With their amazing storytelling abilities, there’s a lot to hope for, but for now, fans should assume that there won’t be Scott Pilgrim takes off season 2.
