Sanrio's ever-popular Hello Kitty is the latest character to receive a new collaboration with Retrospekt, debuting as a tomato for the limited edition FC-11 35mm film camera model.
Through a press release, retro-themed product manufacturer Retrospekt has launched its new Hello Kitty FC-11 35mm film camera. This camera exudes a summery feel, featuring a tomato motif, a red and white striped pattern reminiscent of a picnic loincloth, and custom Hello Kitty tomato artwork scattered across the body camera. Kitty White herself wears a tomato outfit, while the camera's packaging features a similar plaid pattern and more Hello Kitty artwork. The Hello Kitty FC-11 35mm Camcorder was released on June 14, 2024, via the Sanrio website and Retrospekt. Readers can check out the official images and teaser video below.

The launch of Hello Kitty's new throwback camera puts the iconic cat in a tomato costume
Retrospekt creative director Michael Kempen said of the collaboration: “They [Sanrio] say 'let's do something with tomatoes' and then let's put Hello Kitty in a tomato hat. Sanrio has a deep fan base and really understands the potential of the quirks in that world. What might seem strange for another character or franchise seems incredibly natural here. Of course, Hello Kitty has a tomato costume in her wardrobe! All we have to do is decide what it looks like.”
The Hello Kitty FC-11 35mm film camera follows the limited edition Gudetama FC-11 camera from Sanrio and Retrospekt that launched last week. The previous camera version featured similarly unique characteristics of the character, capturing Gudetama's lazy, lethargic attitude in a custom egg-themed collab. The latest Retrospekt camera set continues the company's relationship with Sanrio that began in 2019; Retrospekt has also previously worked with major global brands FENDI, Mattel and Peanuts.
