On Twitter, a cosplayer named @/2Dmimi shared a video of herself dressing up as Sailor Moon at this year’s Anime Expo, held in Los Angeles, California. However, 2Dmimi’s Sailor Moon cosplay is not based on Usagi Tsukino in her beautiful Guardian uniform. Instead, it is based on Usagi becoming Sailor Moon during her ‘Moon Crystal Power, Makeup’ transformation. Specifically, the part where colorful forms of energy wrap around Usagi’s body to create her uniform.

The compact Sailor Moon in 2Dmimi’s costume is the Crystal Star device that Usagi uses to transform into Sailor Moon. It is also used to store the Silver Crystal. The magical transformation item was introduced in Episode 51 of the original anime television series, “A New Transformation: Usagi’s Power-Up.” Sailor Moon fans are praising 2Dmimi for her creative cosplay, calling it “stunning”, “awesome” and “magical”.
