X's official account Re:Zero announced on June 6, 2024 that the highly anticipated first episode of season 3 will be a 90-minute special broadcast, equivalent to four regular episodes.
Furthermore, the 90-minute special will hit theaters across Japan on August 30, 2024, before airing on television.
New images and trailers were revealed along with the announcement.

The season was animated by White Fox and directed by Masahiro Shinohara, with Haruka Sagawa as character designer.

Re:ZeroSeason 1 of the anime adaptation produced by White Fox, which aired from April to September 2016, began with a one-hour special episode. The first of two OVAs based on the series was released in October 2018, and the second OVA was released in November 2019.

Re:Zero − Start life in another world is a Japanese light novel series written by Tappei Nagatsuki and illustrated by Shin'ichiro Otsuka. The series was originally serialized on the Shosetsuka ni Naro website from 2012 onwards.
The first three seasons of the series were adapted into separate manga series. Daichi Matsue's first book was published from June 2014 to March 2015. Makoto Fugetsu's second book was published by Square Enix from October 2014. Matsue released a third adaptation, also by Media Factory published in May 2015. , Media Factory published two manga anthologies with stories by different artists.
