Summary/Spoiler Summary
Female Ranma observed a girl from another school attacking bandaged girls at her school. Female Ranma stopped the girl from continuing to beat the defeated girls. After the girl discovered the female Ranma's power, she identified herself as Kodachi Black Rose and left. The girls go to Akane and beg her for help. She agrees to represent them in an upcoming martial arts gymnastics competition.
Akane begins training with Ranma watching. Ryouga, as the pig P-chan, appears. He transforms into Ryouga to agree to assist Akane in her training. However, Akane is still bad at that. That night, Kodachi appears to attack Akane. She tried to steady herself but her bed was destroyed in the process. Kodachi was impressed and vowed to return. Outside, she accidentally meets male Ranma and falls in love with him. Using deception, Kodachi paralyzes Ranma and proceeds to kiss him but is stopped by Akane.
The next day at school, Kodachi appears and attacks Akane. The fight ended when she was able to see Ranma and adore him. Kuno comes out and after a brief clash with Ranma, sees the girl and announces that he approves of their match. It turns out that Kodachi is Kuno's older brother. Ranma declares Akane his fiance. KUNO Kodachi decides if she wins, she will marry Ranma, which her brother agrees to.
Ranma decides to help Akane practice. However, she sprained her ankle and would have to give up. Akane, Kasumi, and Nabiki then looked at Ranma as an answer.
Thinking/Evaluating
Classic ojousama, complete with the trademark ojousama laughter back inside Ranma 1/2 06. You know, I'm trying to think of any recent anime titles where the ojousama character has that fake, mocking smile. Because it's been a while, hearing Kodachi do it again really made me laugh. I can remember a time when laughter made me nervous. 😅
There are two other funny moments. First, Ryouga, as P-chan, jumped into the warm bath with Soun, Akane's father. He transformed right before Soun's eyes. I don't remember this moment at all so it makes me laugh. However, it also makes me wonder why he didn't stop P-chan from sleeping with Akane.
The last funny moment for me came from Ranma accidentally hitting Kodachi on the head with a kettle, after which she fell in love with him. Naturally, Crunchyroll tries to KILL this, turning “Ranma-sama” into “My Ranma,” because that makes a lot of sense. 😑 These subtitles are already trash and annoying moments like this kill the fun.
That aside, everything was arranged so that female Ranma had to fight Kodachi. However, since it's been so many years since I watched the OG anime adaptation, I can't remember how it all happened. So, bozo “localizer” aside, I look forward to seeing what happens next.
Final thoughts and conclusions
Final, >Ranma 1/2 06 is a fun episode, marking the return of ojousama laughter.
